Empire of Genius was chosen as a featured designer for the Miromoda show run by Ata Te Kanawa at the Michael Fowler Center in Wellington this year. This prestigious show is in its 10th year, supported by industry and business leaders as it discovers new work by Maori designers, who compete to take the stage at Auckland Fashion Week. Miromoda is championed by Adrian Hailwood and Dame Pieter Stewart and it was a pleasure to be asked to close the show as an example of the high standard of luxury design coming out of Wellington.
Empire of Genius had a fantastic night, unveiling the mid winter collection ‘Infinite Horizons’ to great acclaim. This collection mixes elegant urban stylings with luxe bohemian touches, the reception for the soft hand tooled leather paired with delicate lace and silk was overwhelmingly positive. A particular favourite on the night was the Momentum Silk Devore and Leather Dress which evokes the wild sophistication of Wellington’s best dressed, great applause also greeted the Reflections Jacket which mixes the geometry of the snowflake with the finest wool, constructed to perfection and paired beautifully with Directions Leather and Lace Top.
All garments featured at the 2019 Miromoda Show are available here on the website and you can check out some great shots of the show by photographer Masanora Udagawa on the Empire of Genius Insta.
